Charleston Style & Design highlighted the stunning collaboration between Moe Draz of Architrave Interior Design and Shelter Custom-Built Living for a unique home on Captain’s Island.

This 6,065-square-foot, five-bedroom residence, with seven-and-a-half baths, stands out for its exceptional design and thoughtful interior details. Architrave Interior Design's Moe Draz infused the home with a moody, warm, and modern vibe that complements Shelter’s signature Lowcountry style with a twist.

Drawing inspiration from classic mid-century modern homes and the works of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Draz ensured that every design element was unique to this project, avoiding repetition from past designs.

Key interior features include a custom black and brass vent hood paired with Arabescato Vagli honed marble in the kitchen. Draz meticulously sourced black and brass pulls to coordinate with the hood, and the kitchen's elegant faucets, made of unlacquered brass, are designed to patina over time, enhancing the home’s warm aesthetic.

The nearby wet bar, featuring floating shelves and marble running to the ceiling, and sophisticated brass and onyx lighting, further define the living spaces.

The living area showcases a magnificent fireplace wall with rift and quarter-sawn white oak panels. Draz custom-designed a deep, comfortable sectional for family gatherings, ensuring it met the clients' specifications.

The primary bedroom, a serene space with 12-foot ceilings and large windows, features a fabric wall covering with subtle, water-like movement, creating a cozy and warm environment.

The second floor houses three bedrooms for the children, each uniquely decorated with graphic and textured wall coverings. The third floor serves as a flexible space, featuring a cozy hangout area for the kids and a gym.

“Working with Shelter is a designer’s dream,” Draz says. “They are professional, respectful and willing to explore new ideas to help us achieve our design goals. Their scheduling and attention to detail is incomparable."

The home’s design also includes eco-friendly materials, such as Boral siding, Trespa cladding, and AZEK engineered siding, aligning with Shelter’s commitment to sustainable design.

Draz’s collaboration with Shelter resulted in a home that perfectly balances modern aesthetics with functional, inviting spaces, reflecting the clients’ personalities and needs. His hands-on approach and attention to detail were pivotal in transforming the home into a unique, comfortable sanctuary for the family.
